  “Thing is, I can’t concentrate on the driving. This is precisely why I don’t get serious with people. I can’t allow my head to be smashed to smithereens. I know I want him, but I’m not built to wrestle with all this ambiguity. I don’t have the capacity. Too much of me is already devoted to my job.”

  “Now, Elliott, you stop that. There is something pretty special about you and Kyle that’s why he’s managed to get you into such a state. Don’t you dare give up on this because of a career which has a finite end date.”

  I hear her, but I’m not sure whether I agree. My heart and my head are colliding and I guess I’ll just have to stand back and see which one is the louder as the week progresses.

  Until I started writing, I never left a review, that time was a piece of my life I’d never get back, and what did it matter, anyway?

  Wrong!

  Reviews are so important, I can’t explain. Without masses of positive reviews, our books don’t get the exposure they could because Amazon doesn’t think readers engage with them. Why would they push something that isn’t that interesting? And so, they drop down the listings on produce pages and all our hard work stagnates in a pile at the bottom of the rankings with minimal exposure if any.

  Plus, and I didn’t appreciate this myself until later, if a book doesn’t have enough reviews, it’s impossible to get on some of the best book advertising platforms because, they too use this as a gauge to judge whether it will bring in enough revenue.

  So, long story short, if you enjoyed this, please, please, please leave a positive review.
